What is a Life Group?
Life Groups are small groups that meet every 1st and 3rd Sunday nights in host homes for the purpose of building relationships, biblical discussion, and prayer. Groups are available for adults of all ages, stages of life, and spiritual maturity, and they are generally organized by age and geographical location.
How are groups structured?
Life Groups are comprised of the same group of couples or individuals who meet consistently over an 18-month period of time. Since people are encouraged not to group-hop, this allows the group to go beyond surface relationships to develop intimate relationships with other believers.
Why should someone be a part of a Life Group?
Life Groups allow believers to grow closer to one another. By developing friendships with others at COTR, group members will begin to strengthen one another in their relationship with God. Hence, participating in Life Groups not only unites people together but also fosters spiritual growth.
What are Service Groups?
We are the body of Christ! We are his hands and his feet. God has strategically gifted each of us with a variety of strengths and talents. Some are more visible, some are behind the scenes. We believe an important part of fulfilling our destiny in Christ and producing fruit for the kingdom is to discover and develop our talents. Then, we need to make the local church most efficient. Finding our place of service in the church can be one of the greatest and most Fulfilling rewards of ministry. Jesus said, “the son of man came to earth to serve, not to be served.” He also said, “the greatest of all is the servant of all.” Let god lead you to the place of service where you can make the most impact for his kingdom!
“Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man’s gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his faith. If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully.”
What is a Market Group?
The market small groups ministry exists to serve the wide variety of ministry needs of our members as well as those in our community. We encourage everyone at cotr to allow the holy spirit to speak to them about starting a creative market small group that could be used for ministry purposes and outreach. Most market groups are based on a common interest. We find that most ministry opportunities occur in relationships that are already established. Whether it’s a group of guys who like to play tennis, a group of ladies who enjoy scrap booking, or a group of teenagers who regularly get together to ride skateboards, these common interests become the platform for ministry and outreach. Maybe you’re interested in a bible study. There are many small group bible studies available that can be a study guide, video series, or an expository teaching straight from the bible.
